DOMESTIC ABUSE COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER
Location: Ystradgynlais
Duration: Permanent
Start: June 2026
Work Pattern: Monday – Friday (35 hours per week)
Salary: £25,000 per annum
This rewarding role involves providing practical and emotional support to individuals affected by domestic abuse, helping them improve safety, access services, and move towards recovery and independence.
Responsibilities
- Support women across the locality, enabling them to avoid crisis situations and/or a stay in refuge accommodation.
- Deliver practical and compassionate support.
- Undertake assessments of need and risk assessments.
- Work as part of a team and liaise with colleagues to provide a well‑rounded support network.
- Ensure measures are taken to prevent tenancy breakdown.
- Encourage families to create and maintain a community support network.
- Collaborate with external agencies such as healthcare professionals, police and social services.
Qualifications
To be successful in this community support worker position you will need to have previous experience working with individuals who have experienced domestic violence. You should be collaborative, able to work as part of a wider team, compassionate, and able to build strong relationships while maintaining the ability to work well under pressure.
