Electrical Installation Technician
We are seeking to appoint a Technician in Electrical Engineering. Closing Date: 30th June 2026.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Keep the workshop clean, tidy and hygiene standards met.
- Assist lecturers in all practical classes in a supervisory/teaching capacity.
- Be responsible for equipment, first aid requisites, fitting and consumables.
- Log all tools and equipment in and out of tool stores.
- Repair and maintain machines and tooling.
- Keep inventory and stock of all tools, machines and fittings.
- Check that all equipment is in safe working order at all times.
- Liaise with the Head of School and Lecturers to order tools, fittings, consumables and keep accurate budgetary records.
- Develop work areas and rigs for student use.
- Maintain rigs and work areas.
- Plan and progress a series of jobs, keeping the line manager informed of activity.
- Attend and contribute to section meetings.
- Prepare materials for classes as requested by teaching staff.
- Work in other trade areas to support students and cover for absent colleagues, possibly supporting/covering teaching staff as required during staff shortages or sickness.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety in own work and in the workshop area.
- Support teaching team with formative and summative assessments.

The successful applicant will be subject to necessary pre‑employment checks including enhanced DBS, prohibition check, childcare disqualification (where applicable), medical fitness, identity and right to work checks and must provide two suitable references covering a five‑year period.
