Timber Frame Production Operative
Reporting to
Production Supervisor
Role Purpose
To safely and efficiently manufacture high‑quality timber frame panels in line with production drawings, company quality standards, ISO/STA requirements, and all relevant Health & Safety procedures.
Hourly Rate
£13.00
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive timber delivered to workstations via forklift or pump truck, maintaining clear pedestrian walkways.
- Select correct panel drawings and ensure timber grades, dimensions, and specifications match requirements.
- Mark out, assemble, and nail rails, studs, cripple studs, JBS/JFS components, ensuring measurements are within tolerance.
- Square, secure, and prepare panels on benches, ensuring no movement and maintaining accuracy.
- Apply OSB/Fermacell sheathing and follow all nailing schedules using guides; ensure nail depth tolerance.
- Apply any membranes specified by design, ensuring correct overhangs.
- Staple black strapping for stud locations, fold laps, and prepare panels for stacking.
- Clearly mark plot & panel numbers, floor and panel weights, and any relevant identifiers.
- Fit panel feet, and stack panels safely in the designated area.
- Wrap any packs that require wrapping.
- Report low stock levels to production manager.
- Complete all relevant production and quality check sheets in full.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workstation; dispose of waste correctly.
- Report tool, equipment, or machinery damage immediately.
- Wear required PPE at all times and follow all Health & Safety rules.
- Undertake only trained tasks; request additional training where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and processes.
- Carry out any additional reasonable tasks required to support production operations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Good practical skills and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and measurements accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures within a manufacturing environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work to production targets and deadlines.
- Willingness to undertake training and develop skills.
- Previous experience in timber frame manufacturing, carpentry, construction, or a similar production environment.
- Experience using nail guns, saws, and woodworking machinery.
- Knowledge of timber frame systems and STA standards.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence or experience.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
- Full UK driving licence.
Hours of Work
40 hours per week (flexibility may be required based on production demands).

- Suggest improvements to production techniques, efficiency, and quality.
- Actively support a culture of continuous improvement.

- Ensure all tasks are carried out safely and hazards are reported immediately.
