As our Site Operative, you will be working in a multi‑disciplined environment, supporting site waste operational activities, including operating various items of mobile plant, general maintenance of the site, including wheel wash, haul roads and water management.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain excavation, haulage, compaction, and grading mobile plant on site.
- Manage the tipping area, ensuring thorough compaction and waste coverage at the end of each day.
- Managing and controlling hauliers on site, ensuring their and others’ safety.
- Inspect the landfill for hazards, instability, or environmental issues like gas emissions or leachate.
- Perform duty of care checks on waste streams and products, ensuring they comply with acceptance criteria.
- Perform routine checks and minor repairs on machinery and maintain the landfill site, including litter control, general housekeeping, and other operational tasks that improve the site’s effectiveness.
- Manage and maintain the site wheel wash and controlling and managing dewatering equipment.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience of using mobile plant and operating in landfill or other waste facilities.
- Mobile plant certification in NVQ / EPIC / CITB.
- Strong focus on Health & Safety and strong attention to detail.
