Role Overview
Join Vital Energi at Port Clarence, a new energy‑from‑waste biomass facility in Teesside, to serve as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. The role supports the Maintenance Manager and Engineer in maintaining the facility’s high‑pressure boilers, flue gas treatment systems, steam turbines, generators, ash handling equipment and auxiliary balance‑of‑plant.
Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards in health and safety performance, cultural compliance, environmental requirements and site housekeeping.
- Comply with and actively support company procedures, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality systems.
- Promote a safety‑first environment, ensuring personnel act safely and report unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
- Investigate accidents or near‑misses promptly with management, ensuring unsafe practices or conditions are resolved.
- Be familiar with the site emergency plan, play a key role, and support the emergency response team.
- Adhere to corporate safety, site safety rules and associated safe systems of work, PTW, RAMS and authorisation procedures.
- Assist the Outage Lead with planning, execution, monitoring, record‑keeping and reporting to meet the site’s O&M objectives.
- Compile work scopes and develop outage plans based on standard scopes, defects, threats, projects and routine maintenance.
- Develop, maintain and implement operating and emergency instructions following OEM manuals.
- Assist operations with routine tasks such as clearing blockages, spillages, greasing equipment, inspections of mobile plant and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- OND/HNC or higher in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical or Electrical) related to power generation.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in power generation, energy‑from‑waste or similar industry.
- IOSH Managing Safely general certificate or equivalent safety qualification.
- Background in engineering or process operations.
