About the role
LDN London is an award‑winning charity with over 60 years’ experience of supporting people with learning disabilities to stay healthy, be safe and live well. We are looking for experienced female support workers to join our new 5‑bed supported living service in Camden near Kentish Town tube station. The service supports people with moderate to severe learning disabilities ranging from autism to complex needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily living support, including assistance with personal care, medication and feeding.
- Assist with manual handling and transfer of residents, many of whom use wheelchairs.
- Communicate effectively with residents, many of whom are non‑verbal or have limited verbal ability.
- Develop and maintain supportive relationships with residents, families, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
- Use initiative to problem‑solve and prioritise tasks, plan and organise activities for a rota schedule covering weekdays, weekends and early/late shifts.
- Maintain professional judgment and adapt to the needs of complex situations.
- Work flexible hours to cover daytime and nighttime shifts.
Requirements
- Experienced support worker with a good understanding of complex needs.
- Experience in manual handling and moving residents.
- Strong communication skills, able to support non‑verbal residents.
- Positive, resilient attitude, able to work under pressure and adapt to changing demands.
- Valid DBS check and the ability to provide employment or professional references covering the last three years.
