Porte/Facilities Assistant
Location: John Ruskin College – Croydon, East Surrey College – Redhill
Salary Range: Up to £27,105 (subject to qualifications, skills, and experience)
This is a full-time role performed on a rota basis. Current shifts are 07:00‑15:00, 08:00‑16:00, 10:00‑18:00 and 14:00‑22:00.
In this rewarding role you will assist with setting up and dismantling furniture and equipment for college events, monitoring and reporting any maintenance issues to the facilities team, and working with other staff members and contractors to ensure the college is clean, safe and welcoming. You will also provide support to students and staff as needed.
The Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the college’s facilities. If you are interested in this position, please indicate your preferred location of work on the application form.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caretaker or similar Porter or Facilities role
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Basic knowledge of using online systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Maths & English GCSE / Level 2 equivalent (achieved or willing to obtain)
- Qualified driver with clean driving licence; a licence certified to drive Group D1 vehicles is desirable
