Overview – Technical Operator
As a Technical Operator, you will produce drinking water to high quality standards in the most cost‑efficient and safe manner. You will operate within our central region and work alongside maintenance, process teams and the Team Manager using control platforms such as SCADA and PRISM.
Key Accountabilities
- Operate groundwater, distribution service reservoirs and distribution booster station assets.
- Maintain and improve site standards and identify Health & Safety improvements.
- Operate assets under your control to ensure all quality and quantity limits are met with no adverse impact on the environment.
- Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is maintained at all times.
- Ensure sites operate at a minimum cost and in an energy‑efficient way.
Training and Development
Standby duties on a rota basis are required. You will undertake a Level 2 apprenticeship over 12–15 months, including three days a month in Coventry at our Academy. You will also achieve a Functional Skills Level 1 qualification if required, complete a portfolio of work assessed at the end of your training, and be independently assessed on site to demonstrate capability. Depending on experience, you may attend a technical skills bootcamp delivered by our Academy.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience working in a mechanical or electrical environment is advantageous.
- Experience with chemical processes is beneficial.
- Efficient, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure while completing multiple tasks.
- Confidence to work unsupervised and within a team framework to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to analyse information to spot potential problems for improvement.
- A full valid UK driving licence.
- A caring attitude and a positive character.
