Learning Support Assistant (x2)
About the role
We are looking to appoint an ambitious, energetic and exceptional individual as a Learning Support Assistant within the new Resource Specialist Provision at Waltham Toll Bar Academy. The Bridgehouse will open in September 2026 and will cater for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and who are receiving an EHCP and need additional support within their mainstream education.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with SENDCO, Lead Teacher of SEND and the academy staff to design and deliver a broad, balanced and specialist curriculum for children accessing the provision.
- Collaborate with the Trust, local authority and external agencies to support the curriculum.
- Implement adaptive, personalised teaching strategies and 1:1 interventions to help children develop skills and confidence.
- Create a nurturing and empathic approach prioritising child‑centred relational strategies.
- Champion trauma‑informed and relational learning principles, building strong, trusting relationships with children to create a safe learning environment.
- Support the development of an inclusive provision that is part of the academy and meets the needs of children across key stages.
- Contribute to the growth of the Resource Specialist Provision (initially 6 places, growing to 12).
- Participate in ongoing CPD as part of the whole‑school relational approach.
Qualifications and experience
- Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH.
- Experience of working with children across key stages.
- Desire to ensure children with negative educational experiences have opportunities to grow.
- Strong understanding of trauma awareness, relational learning and child‑centred approaches.
Employment details
Permanent, 37 hours per week Term time + Inset days (195 days per year). Salary £28,423 pro rata (Actual Salary £24,301.67). Role begins September 2026.
