About The Role

The Site Services Technician role ensures that all items of plant and equipment within their area(s) of responsibility are maintained to appropriate standards, ensuring safe, reliable performance in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), reacting to any breakdowns or issues during their shift while continually improving performance, equipment, and systems to support the Manufacturing Facility and the Supply function.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide the right level of support to the factory, including 24/5 shift work, out‑of‑hours call‑out rota, weekend coverage, and factory shutdowns, with flexibility to cover 24/7 as needed.
  • Responsible for all Site Services maintenance activities within your area of responsibility.
  • Act as key point of contact for the Site Services Senior Maintenance Coach, Site Services Manager, Maintenance Team Leaders, Asset Care Manager, Product Supply Leaders, Area Team Leaders and external contractors.
  • Have authority to requisition parts and services to an agreed £ limit from the area maintenance revenue budget.
  • Maintain all plant and equipment asset numbers and ensure performance is safe, reliable and compliant with cGMP.
  • Monitor plant operational efficiency, reliability and capability, identifying under‑performance or opportunity and implementing plans to deliver improvement.
  • Understand maintenance requirements and deliver maintenance using a proactive, responsive, customer‑focused approach with effective application of the maintenance system and good engineering practice.
  • Participate pro‑actively in routine maintenance review and DOR meetings.
  • Decide when to seek additional support and expertise through line management or support functions.
  • Deliver maintenance spend to meet annual budgets and ensure value for money is obtained.
  • Diagnose and rectify problems with plant, equipment and systems.
  • Use the CMMS SAP system to ensure that all agreed maintenance and improvement work is completed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely feedback to the maintenance management system of all tasks performed.
  • Comply with maintenance systems and procedures, including those regarding Health, Safety, Environment and Quality assurance.

The experience we’re looking for

  • PC literate and able to navigate electronic systems such as SAP, BMS and EMS.
  • Experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing systems.
  • Understanding of related controls and instrumentation systems.
  • Preferably practical experience in the operation and maintenance of large multi‑purpose facilities, ideally within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, cGMP requirements and their criticality to product quality.
  • Knowledge of UK regulatory safety standards and application of ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and ISO9001 standards.
  • Knowledge of operating and maintaining Site Services plant, equipment and systems, including HVAC, steam, water, compressed air, boiler plant, utilities supply and CMMS.
  • Ideally a 50:50 electrical/mechanical skill balance.
