Apply for the SEND Support assistant
Location: Bath
Job Description:

You’re not “just” support… you’re the reason some pupils get through the day

Thinking about a role in SEND? Or already working in support and ready for a school that really gets it? We’re working with a range of welcoming SEND schools across Bath looking for compassionate, reliable support staff to join them this September. And if you’re not quite sure which setting suits you best yet, that’s okay. ASD, SEMH, complex needs… we’ll help you find the right fit, not just the next role.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping create a calm, structured environment where pupils feel safe
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and therapists
  • Supporting behaviour in a positive, consistent way
  • Celebrating progress, even the small wins (they matter most here)

Benefits – School

  • Supportive teams who genuinely value their support staff
  • Clear routines and guidance, no being left to “just get on with it”
  • Opportunities to learn and build SEND experience
  • A setting where relationships come first

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A calm, patient, and caring approach
  • Experience with children or young people (SEND experience is a bonus, not a must)
  • Strong communication and a team-first attitude
  • Someone who shows up, gets stuck in, and really cares

Why Join Protocol Education

  • Free access to our CPD Academy
  • Ongoing support from a consultant who listens
  • Opportunities across different SEND settings
  • Long‑term roles with real impact

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, with the possibility of permanent roles in the future.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All workers undergo safeguarding checks in accordance with DfE guidance, including an online search. We offer free online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training. Candidates must have a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
