Personal Assistant / Support Worker (P/T)
Hours: 6 hrs per week.
Days/Hours: Proposed shifts 10am – 1pm or 1.30pm – 4.30pm; days flexible – to be discussed at interview.
Rate of Pay: £14.56.
Duties
Provide support and companionship to a young man with a diagnosis of Autism who lives with his family in the Kilwinning area.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Provide social support and companionship within the local community, ensuring safety at all times.
- Supervise to prevent running away, responding promptly to distractions.
- Support access to local activities, including gym and swimming pool; assist with water activities.
- Encourage positive interaction; continuity and consistency are very important.
- Companion for activities such as car‑related interests, sports events, football games, and stadium visits.
- Attend music and theatre events, such as Centre Stage in Kilmarnock, to build confidence.
- Provide minimal personal care, prompting for dressing after swimming, etc.
Experience and Requirements
- Experience working with young adults with Autism essential.
- Driver’s licence and access to own car with business insurance; current licence preferred.
- Wage rate includes travel allowance; mileage costs covered for work‑related travel.
- Must undergo new PVG Disclosure at employer’s expense and supply 2 references before appointment.
- Agree to 6‑month probationary period with 1 week’s notice if the role does not work out.
