About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for aRig Operator to join ourGround Engineering team.
What you’ll be doing
The successful candidate will:
- Assist with HSE targets and standards are maintained;
- Focus on Zero Harm, Defect free delivery and sustainability principles;
- Support the implementation of H&S documentation;
- Support immediate management in setting people to work and attend and participate in Daily Activity Briefings;
- Follow Risk Assessments, Method Statements / WPP (RAMS) work to existing Balfour Beatty Safe Systems of Work;
- Ensure exclusion zones are maintained including signage, gate, etc by working closely with designated Rig Attendant;
- Report all Observations – Close Calls/Good Practice – informing Supervisor;
- Be aware of project plans, specification, schedules, and sequence of works;
- Follow schedules/programmes, identifying conflicts and propose resolutions;
- Monitor and react to ground/site conditions including Piling Platform;
- Ensure works are carried out in the most efficient and safe manner;
- Prepared to work overtime/flexible on breaks as and when the contract requires;
- Prepared to complete other Site Roles and Tasks within Team;
- Understanding of safe systems of work, eliminating safety risks through good logistics – loading and unloading;
- Understand the importance of logistics for programme success;
- Follow sequencing and logic of the project process;
- Follow drawings, specifications, and checklists;
- Complete required checklists, snags, and quality observations;
- Play an active role in supporting the management of quality issues and the QA process (including NCRs);
- Assist in meeting target outputs as required for Scope of works;
- Be aware of key contract dates and key contractual requirements of sustainability.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Awareness of the need to develop leadership skills;
- Good communication skills;
- Ability to support improvement of safety and sustainability performance;
- Basic IT skills for the use of Rig Computer Systems;
- Ability and prepared to train, instruct, and share knowledge;
- Piling techniques within Rotary, CFA, and Mini Piling;
- Rigging and derigging;
- Proactive Maintenance of Piling rig and equipment recording issues and faults as required;
- Awareness of scheduling and programme management. Short-term planning for the overall construction programme;
- Basic principles and importance of regulatory requirements and Standards;
- Basic understanding of safety protocols and best practices;
- Understanding of quality assurance and quality control processes;
- Awareness of environmental sustainability practices;
- Awareness of construction technology and innovation;
- Awareness of compliance with regulations and standards;
- Awareness of environmentally sustainable practices in construction projects;
- CPCS – A48 Piling Rig Bored >20tn. (Rotary/CFA);
- CPCS – A47 Piling Rig Bored < 20tn. (Mini Piling);
- CPCS – A40 Slinger Signaller;
- CPC – A74 Piling Rig Attendant;
- Manual Handling;
- Fit For Role -Safety Critical Medical (SEQUAL Registered);
- Manufacture/supplier training where required (Bauer, Casagrande, Klemm, etc.).
