Job Description:

Key Responsibilities – Clinical

  • Manage a caseload of complex and highly complex patients.
  • Carry out appropriate assessments for clients with multiple and complex needs using advanced clinical reasoning skills and evidence‑based practice.
  • Work with clients to identify and agree treatment goals based on assessment outcomes, balancing risk, safety, client choice, independence, conflict, and service eligibility.
  • Use communication, reasoning and negotiation skills to establish a therapeutic relationship in complex cases.
  • Plan and implement individual interventions addressing all areas of risk associated with an individual’s ability to function independently.
  • Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions to measure client progress and treatment effectiveness.
  • Represent the team and participate in relevant team meetings, clinics and ward rounds to contribute to client care planning; use these forums to seek interdisciplinary input.
  • Liaise with families/carers and statutory and voluntary agencies to inform client care planning.
  • Ensure all documentation and activity recording is maintained according to Trust standards.
  • Reflect on ethical issues and provide guidance to junior staff as necessary.
  • Respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of clients and contribute to a service sensitive to these needs.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical risk and report untoward incidents verbally and in writing; support other team members with correct reporting processes.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Review and reflect on practice; identify self‑development areas through the annual appraisal system and regular clinical supervision.
  • Plan, actively participate in and contribute to the in‑service education programme.
  • Provide supervision and appraisals for the team.
  • Take responsibility for supervising and educating students on clinical placement within the Trust.
  • Maintain a professional portfolio for CPD, documenting learning outcomes and reflections.
  • Attend post‑graduate lectures and courses to achieve appraisal objectives and share knowledge with peers.
  • Participate in the Quality Implementation Team and other relevant meetings.
  • Critically evaluate current research, apply to practice and disseminate findings to local colleagues.
  • Contribute to service development and evaluation within in‑patient services through a reflective case study with a view to publication.

Core Non‑Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate multi‑disciplinary meetings (referral, review, business, handover).
  • Work within the available budget of the service alongside the line manager.
  • Provide clinical leadership and professional expertise to the team.
  • Deliver training where appropriate for other professionals.
  • Coordinate and manage the team to ensure a safe, effective and therapeutic clinical service.

Job Role Requirements

  • Band 6 CPN.
  • Commit to a full‑time CPN locum role.
  • Must have an NHS or Private Sector background.
  • Have right to work in the UK.
  • Have NMC registration.
  • Able to work day shifts (variety of rota).

Rates

  • Days: Approx. £23‑25 per hour (PAYE), dependent on experience and client approval.
