Job Description:

Rydon Maintenance are seeking a skilled Carpenter with experience inspecting and repairing fire doors to join our repairs and maintenance team.

The role will involve carrying out fire door inspections, repairs and replacements in hospitals, ambulance stations, care homes and other commercial buildings in the South East. Rydon Maintenance provides hard FM services across England for a growing number of NHS trusts, caring for more than 250 buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection of fire doors to assess whether repairs or replacements are required.
  • Fire door maintenance and remedial works, including fitting of door stoppers.
  • Familiarise with and apply current fire regulations to ensure doors are fully compliant.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure fire doors meet fire safety regulations.
  • Adjust door frames, ironmongery and seals for a proper fit and function.
  • Identify and rectify any fire door defects.
  • Install new fire doors, receiving necessary training for installation.
  • Ensure all work meets industry regulations and safety standards.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in carpentry and joinery.
  • Previous experience with maintenance, repair and replacement/installation of fire doors.
  • Experience working in healthcare environments (e.g., hospitals, care homes) preferred but not essential; experience from other sectors considered.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Valid UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).
  • UK driving licence required; company van and fuel card provided.

Working Conditions & Hours

Full‑time position; 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Trailing to various healthcare and public buildings; company van and fuel card provided.
