Support Worker – Tennyson Lodge Day Service

We support adults with learning disabilities to live full, meaningful lives, building confidence, developing independence and having fun. As a Support Worker you will create a positive, inclusive environment where people feel valued, empowered and supported to achieve their goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Build positive, trusting relationships and support people to achieve their personal goals and outcomes.
  • Deliver and support engaging activities both within the centre and in the community, promoting life‑skills, wellbeing and social inclusion.
  • Encourage independence by helping people develop everyday skills and make their own choices.
  • Provide person‑centred support tailored to individual needs, including personal care and medication where required.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team, contributing to support plans, risk assessments and reviews.
  • Use IT systems to keep accurate records and ensure high‑quality care delivery.
  • Promote dignity, respect and equality in everything you do, helping people feel safe, heard and valued.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships.
  • Team player who can also use initiative and adapt to changing situations.
  • Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (or commitment to further training).
  • Confident in using IT systems for recording and communication.
  • Strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and a person‑centred approach.
  • Flexible, reliable and committed to delivering high‑quality support.
  • Empathy, positivity and a can‑do attitude.

Hours and location

Day centre open Monday‑Friday 9 am‑4 pm. Working hours 8:50 am‑5:10 pm on Mondays and 8:50 am‑4 pm on Tuesdays‑Fridays, subject to change depending on service need.
