Job Overview

We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Advanced Support Worker to join our team in Kendal, supporting a lady in her home and community. She lives independently in a downstairs flat and requires 24‑hour support to live a fulfilling and empowered life.

About The Person You’ll Support

  • Communicates using pen & paper or a Lite Writer
  • Loves music, YouTube (especially cat videos!), shopping, and coffee shops
  • Enjoys exploring new places by bus or train
  • Big fan of cats and a good giggle
  • Loves trips to the park (especially the swings!)
  • Uses a PEG regime for medication (training provided)
  • Uses a wheelchair in the community

Key Traits Needed

Patience, understanding, and the ability to support when fixated or frustrated.

About You

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in Social Care (or have strong experience)
  • Experience with mental health, autism, sensory communication, and physical health needs
  • Passionate about helping people live independently
  • Brilliant mentor and team player
  • Confident using alternative communication methods

Shift Pattern & Hours

  • Bank/Casual shifts
  • Shifts: 10:00 am‑10:00 pm followed by a sleepover
  • Morning shift: starts at 7:30 am after sleepover

Training & Development

We’ll support your growth with specialist training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), PEG feeding.

Important Note

Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
