Personal Assistant / Support Worker (P/T)
Hours: 10 hrs per week (40 hrs in a 4‑week period). Day & hour flexibility to be discussed; may include weekends.
R.O.P.: £14.59 per hour.
Responsibilities
Provide support and companionship to a young woman with Autism who lives with her family in the Dalry area.
- Offer social support, encouragement and companionship – assist her to access the local community: bowling, cinema, cafés, lunches, etc.
- Encourage her developing interest in acting and drama – assist with attending drama classes at CentreStage, Kilmarnock.
- Support her interest in animals – help with a volunteering opportunity involving animals (especially cats).
- Help her relax at home – support activities such as hair, makeup and nail care.
- Assist with life‑skills: shopping, budgeting, meal preparation and cooking.
- Oversee medication: prompt and record keeping – Medication Training will be provided.
Qualifications & Training
- Young‑at‑heart, friendly, cheery, easy‑going, calm and supportive with a proactive, positive approach.
- Reliable, trustworthy, strong communication skills.
- Good knowledge of social media.
- Experience supporting young adults with Autism preferred.
- Understanding of anxiety and ability to recognise and provide support with its symptoms.
- Possess a current driver’s licence, own car and business insurance; mileage costs will be covered.
- Will undergo a new PVG Disclosure (or update) at the employer’s expense, supply two reference contacts prior to appointment and complete relevant training.
There is a 6‑month probationary period with one‑week notice if the post does not work out.
