Job Overview
MDT Coordinator – Cancer Services – Full time – 37.5 hours per week.
The MDT Coordinator works closely with clinical and non‑clinical teams, identifying patients for weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, collating necessary information, and serving as the point of contact for all administrative matters within the speciality.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the efficient collection of Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) and minimum datasets and entry of this information onto the database.
- Organise and circulate agendas and lists of patients for discussion, ensuring MDTs run smoothly and reach their full potential.
- Provide live secretary support to meetings, including use of video conferencing and other IT equipment.
- Record the outcome of each discussion during the MDT and process all outcomes to ensure patients are treated in a timely manner.
- Use information for minimum data set collection and CWTs in relation to national guidelines; take part in local and national audits.
- Support the preparation and cover of other MDTs as part of the cover plan.
- Own transport is essential; the role is based in Kendon House at Southmead Hospital with occasional ad hoc cover at Weston General Hospital.
Essential Credentials
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or experience, demonstrating a level of applied knowledge in cancer.
- Experience in patient administration.
- Professional manner and appearance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adhere to strict protocols to ensure best practice.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access).
- Ability to work independently in a busy, complex team.
- Educated to GCSE Standard or equivalent as a minimum requirement.
- Prior engagement with the NHS environment (experience of working in a hospital setting).
- Knowledge of Cancer Waiting Times and minimum data set collection.
- Own transport must be available.
Desirable Qualifications
- A Level education.
- Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Cancer CWT knowledge.
- Additional experience of working in a hospital environment.
