About The Role
As a Commis Chef, you will undertake a high standard of food preparation work and basic cooking under the supervision of a Chef de Partie or section chef, rotating through sections such as sauce, vegetables, fish and butchery.
This is a great opportunity to learn and develop your culinary skills working for a large growing group – a company which values their staff and encourages career progression through training and development. You’ll develop your knowledge every day, learning how each area of the kitchen works through training, shadowing, guidance and mentoring. Under supervision, you’ll prepare food and support the team to deliver the highest of standards and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Cook any foods as required on a daily basis, assuring that all orders are completed accurately and promptly, according to business requirements in the most professional, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Ensure that standards are maintained with regard to presentation of food items, in line with the business image
- Prepare the mise-en-place for the shift, advising the Sous Chef/Head chef of any stock shortages or requirements
- Conduct, record and monitor temperature level readings for all the fridges twice daily, as stipulated in the Food Safety (Temperature Control) Regulations 1995, and Food Safety Act 1990. To maintain cleanliness standards in the kitchen, fridges and freezers and adhere to safe storage procedures.
- Operate at all times within the legislative confines of the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
