Here at Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for an Apprentice Workshop Technician to join the team based in Motherwell. This apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to learn through a mixture of on‑the‑job experience and block release training through an apprenticeship provider. You will learn about diagnosing and repairing a variety of HGV vehicles, under the guidance of experienced professionals. The apprentice will develop the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in their role as an HGV Vehicle Technician.
The role is based on a Monday‑Friday 08:00 – 16:00 working week. You will receive a starting salary of £18,928.07 and, once qualified, could earn up to £42,000.
Apprentice Workshop Technician role
You will be undertaking a fixed period of training to achieve an apprenticeship qualification (3‑4 year period). Your responsibilities include ensuring the company fleet is effectively serviced and repaired on a cost‑effective and timely basis while meeting company, regulatory, and operator license requirements.

Responsibilities
- Learn to ensure vehicles are repaired and maintained in accordance with prescribed standards.
- Learn how to prepare and present vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections.
- Diagnose vehicle‑related defects using available diagnostic equipment and arrange for relevant action to be taken.
- Maintain high levels of safety and cleanliness at all times, meeting Health and Safety requirements.
- Update and maintain appropriate records, ensuring all relevant information is shared with relevant departments on a timely basis.
- Complete necessary paperwork to an excellent standard to keep the company legal and DVSA compliant.
Training
- Follow the ongoing training plan to ensure all learning outcomes are met over the duration of the apprenticeship.
- Be diligent and committed to the apprenticeship process, raising any concerns or questions with the appropriate person.
- Work together with the training provider and Stef Langdons to meet all apprenticeship expectations.
- Attend and take part in off‑site training at regular intervals (usually every two months).
