Job Description
To work with our existing team towards progressing the aims of our Children and Young Peoples Project
- Identifying and encouraging the involvement of young physically, sensory and/or learning disabled people in North Tyneside
- To work with them towards building their skills and confidences informally in order that become effective members of society
- To facilitate their ability to effect change, make informed choices and assist in the decision making processes
- To encourage personal and group awareness and development
- to make written reports as necessary
To Specifically Address The Needs Of
- Marginalized and isolated young people
- Disabled teenagers just wanting to be teenagers
- Pre teens who feel excluded from their peers
- Kids in transition – between school/F.E./work
To be able to work in a large group situation – centre based and if necessary to be able to work at other locations appropriate to the needs of the client group, one to one or in small group setting.
Skills And Experience Necessary
- Experience of working with young disabled people
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work across broad age and ability/special needs level
- Experience of working with previously marginalized groups
- Commitment towards integration and inclusion
- Relevant qualification and understanding of disability issues
Sessional support to evening and weekend work recompensed by hourly rate of £13.21 per hour.
