Role: HGV Technician
Location: Croydon, CR0 4YL
Hours: 45 hours per week | between 07:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday. We offer 40-hour and 26-hour per week options for flexibility.
Salary: £45,442.80 – £50,310 per annum, DOE (based on 45hpw)
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HGV Technician to join our Aftermarket team. This hands‑on role involves maintaining and repairing refuse collection vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring safety, compliance and customer satisfaction every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment.
- Service vehicles to VOSA standards and prepare them for MOT inspections.
- Complete body and chassis repairs and ensure compliance with Department of Transport specifications.
- Maintain accurate records and enter job details into company systems.
- Liaise professionally with customers and work independently at customer sites.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to company standards.
- Follow health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments where required.
- Undertake training to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Ideal Candidate
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance.
- Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills.
- Understanding of electronics, hydraulics and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including overtime.
- Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus.
