About the Post

Like all of us here at Barnsley Council, you care about children and their families. You’ll take a key role in ensuring the council meets its early years and school‑age childcare sufficiency duty. This part‑time Childcare Sufficiency Officer position is focused on analysing data and engaging with parents, carers and childcare providers across the borough.

Your Role

You will be highly organised, possess good analytical and IT skills, and be able to communicate effectively to build relationships quickly. The role includes traveling across the borough to gain the views of parents and carers as well as visiting childcare providers. You should be a great communicator who can engage with parents and childcare professionals, and you must be able to travel across the borough to gain the views of parents and carers as well as visit childcare providers.

Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification.
  • Experience working in a relevant field.
  • Strong statistical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills.
  • Ability to engage with parents and childcare professionals.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel across the borough.

Additional Information

  • Basic Criminal Record Check required.
  • English speaking to an appropriate standard.
  • Applicants must be able to start work with all necessary legal documents such as a valid visa; Barnsley Council does not hold a Home Office licence and cannot sponsor visas.
