We are now recruiting for a Safety Development Officer. The role provides system support to the MML QHSE Manager to ensure compliance with ISO and 45001 standards. The Safety Development Officer will ensure statutory and contractual obligations in safety, quality, and environment are met.

Responsibilities

  • Support inspection and audit activity (internal and external), log, track, and close out remedial actions.
  • Review, assess, track, and close out environmental, health and safety, and quality issues and incidents for all aspects of MML’s business using output from internal/external audits, risk assessments or other reports.
  • Maintain MML’s QHSEMS systems in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review MML’s QHSEMS management system to consider new and developing projects.
  • Participate in incident investigations and report on behalf of MML.
  • Assist in developing and implementing an annual audit plan covering all aspects of MML’s operations with a focus on health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide safety advice and guidance to all MML departments.
  • Assess and advise on treatment of safety in change proposals, standards, operational activities and project delivery plans as required.
  • Undertake and maintain risk assessments for generic and task-specific activities and ensure hazards and remedial measures are recorded, managed, and communicated.
  • Support incident investigation and reporting processes, including RIDDOR, D&A and other leading and lagging indicators.
  • Support statutory compliance of all operations, rolling stock, infrastructure and service delivery activities.
  • Support ongoing ROGS requirements across all aspects of the business.
  • Ensure employee health monitoring regimes and fatigue monitoring are maintained and robustly adhered to.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Health & Safety professional holding a minimum NEBOSH general certificate.
  • Experience maintaining ISO standard management systems.
  • Knowledge of internal and external auditing processes and audit management systems.
  • Good working knowledge and demonstrable competence in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Ability to manage data and accurately create reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HSE & ROGS regulations.
  • Experience working within the light rail or transport sector.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and FOI.
  • Environmental accreditation/qualification at level 3 or above.
