What you will do

Our solicitor apprenticeship is a six‑year programme during which you will study for a degree in law (three years), take the SQE (solicitors qualifying exam) (one year), and carry out two years of qualifying work experience (QWE) which is equivalent to our two‑year training contract. During your apprenticeship you will experience working in several of our six practice groups: Corporate and Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Employment, Family, Property, or Private Client. You will be supported throughout by your apprenticeship supervisor at the firm and your tutor at the University of Law. At the end of the programme you will be a qualified solicitor.

Who you are

You will have achieved five GCSEs, including Maths and English, or equivalent, at grade 5 or above.

You will be predicted three A levels at grade B or above or equivalent.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload. You will have a confident and personable manner with a keen desire to pursue a career in law.

In this stage, you should tell us about your grades at school/college, your work experience, hobbies and interests outside of work, why you’ve chosen a career in law, and why you feel you would be a good fit for BP Collins.

Successful candidates will be invited to attend an initial screening interview with a member of the HR team and to complete a number of assessments.

The final stage of the process will be an assessment day at our office in Gerrards Cross, during which shortlisted candidates will take part in a scenario exercise, deliver a short presentation on a non‑law related subject, and attend an interview with two of the partners.
