Job Summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. The prison has a capacity of around 1,100 and a varied, complex population. This is a full‑time role, working night shifts (20:45 – 07:45) on a 2‑week rota (Week 1 – 4 nights, Week 2 – 3 nights). Salary is £25,557‑£29,723 per annum, depending on experience.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times.
- Carry out bloods, observations, ECGs, etc.
- Work across all areas of care – inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, and more.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Work holistically with patients and other healthcare staff (nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy, etc.).
- Deliver personalised, non‑judgemental care, based on patient feedback.
- Contribute to care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics.

Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
- Experience within a healthcare setting – hospital, community or secure setting.
- Clinical experience (bloods, observations, ECGs, etc.).
- Experience in primary care or inpatients is a bonus.
- Non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
