The Trustees are looking to recruit for the post of Level 1 Teaching Assistant (Fixed term & Permanent Posts).
Location: New Bridge Learning Centre (various areas of centre).
Pay: NJC point 3 – £24,796 per annum (full‑time). Actual salary pro rata: £19,669 per annum. SEN allowance: £1,539 per annum. Contracted hours: 34 per week (term time only, 195 days). Commencing September 2026.
About the school: Part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, New Bridge School is a special needs school for pupils and students aged 11‑19 across two sites. It caters for students with a wide range of SEND and physical and sensory impairments. All pupils have an EHC plan.
About the Learning Centre: The New Bridge Learning Centre is a post‑16 provision based in Fitton Hill, catering for students with a wide range of needs and abilities.
Responsibilities
Support classroom teachers and facilitate the delivery of instruction to a dedicated group of students with complex needs.
Manage behaviour, providing a nurturing and empathetic approach.
Monitor student progress, record data and give regular feedback.
Model appropriate social behaviour and contribute to general welfare.
Work across all pathways, support differentiation in interventions and collaborate with colleagues.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging or complex needs.
- A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
- Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs.
- Ability to support teaching and learning in a special needs setting.
- Adaptability and resilience to work across all pathways.
- Capability to support the classroom teacher to monitor student progress and improve engagement.
- Capability to record student progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
- Capacity to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school.
- Ability to differentiate interventions with curriculum relevance and collaborate with teachers.
- Teamworking ability and initiative when needed.
- Willingness to participate in professional development.
