Maths Teacher – Long-Term Placement (Full Time) – South Bristol (September Start)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Maths Teacher for a long‑term, full‑time placement in a secondary school in South Bristol from September. You will deliver well‑sequenced, engaging lessons that develop pupils’ fluency, reasoning, and problem‑solving, supporting learners across KS3 and KS4.

This role suits a qualified teacher looking for a consistent timetable, an ECT seeking strong long‑term experience, or an experienced practitioner who enjoys building relationships and raising attainment over time.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality Maths lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, adapting pace and challenge to meet a range of abilities
  • Use effective modelling, questioning and retrieval practice to build secure understanding
  • Assess learning, provide timely feedback, and contribute to tracking and reporting where required
  • Support intervention and gap‑closing where needed, helping pupils make strong progress
  • Maintain positive behaviour and consistent classroom routines in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with the Maths department to share resources and support pupil outcomes
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment

  • Confident subject knowledge and the ability to explain concepts step‑by‑step
  • Strong classroom presence with calm, consistent behaviour management
  • Ability to plan engaging lessons and scaffold learning for different needs
  • A data‑informed approach to identifying misconceptions and supporting progress
  • Organised, reliable and proactive approach to day‑to‑day teaching
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative, team‑first mindset

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
  • Experience teaching Maths in a secondary setting, ideally across KS3 and KS4
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding requirements and responsibilities
  • Confidence with planning, assessment and supporting GCSE preparation where appropriate
  • Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
