Job Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and hardworking people with a keen eye for detail to maintain exceptional operational standards, particularly during busy times. You will work in and around the halls of residence and other properties, assisting students, visitors and staff.

Responsibilities

  • First‑line building maintenance: blocked drains, changing lamps, fixing toilet seats, cleaning, rubbish removal, etc.
  • Investigate jobs, make them safe where possible and raise service requests for follow‑on work
  • Maintain building compliance and safety: test fire alarms, check emergency lights, flush water, etc.
  • Move stock and goods in and around the site
  • Coordinate emergency response (fire alarms, first aid, floods, power outage, etc.)
  • Site patrol and security
  • Assist in open days and accommodation tours
  • Cover customer contact points in person and by phone, managing arrivals, departures and visitor enquiries
  • Prepare sites and rooms for visitors and events
  • Assist in the daily operation of our halls and properties

Hours of Work

Part‑time, 18.25 hours per week; 2 days a week mainly 8:00 am–6:00 pm in an 8‑week rotating pattern covering 7 days a week. One Saturday or Sunday worked every 2 weeks. Public and university holidays may require working. Job share arrangements may be considered. Work in winter and any unsocial hours (10 pm–6 am) will be enhanced by additional 15% payment. This position is permanent, throughout the full calendar year (52 weeks).
