Learning Support Assistant (SEMH & Functional Skills)

Responsibilities

• Provide vital classroom and 1:1 support for students with SEMH needs, helping them build resilience and self-esteem.
• Guide learners to develop independence, confidence, and academic skills needed for the future.
• Assist in the delivery of Functional Skills (Maths & English).
• Create an inclusive, safe, and engaging environment where students feel heard and valued.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, and participate in enrichment activities and educational visits.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Positive attitude, empathy, and potential – classroom experience is not essential.
• Patient, caring, and resilient in facing challenges.
• Passionate about mentoring young people and celebrating their successes.
• Natural relationship-builder with strong communication skills.
• Proactive, flexible, ready to thrive in a dynamic college environment.
• Bonus: Full driving licence and willingness to drive the college minibus.

Compensation and Employment Details

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position; permanent status may become available later.
