We are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive school in Thurrock. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to thrive in education.
About the Role
As a SEND LSA, you will work alongside teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop independence both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
- Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs
- Support pupils with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons
- Encourage positive engagement and participation in learning
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people (SEND experience is desirable but not essential)
- Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is proactive, flexible, and willing to learn
- Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent), or is working towards one
