Behaviour Support Officer – Full-time, temporary to permanent from June 2026

The Behaviour Support Officer will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting pupils with social and emotional needs, and contributing to a calm and inclusive learning environment. Duties as Behaviour Support Officer

  • Support pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • Work with pupils on a one‑to‑one or small group basis to promote positive behaviour
  • Implement behaviour support strategies in line with school policies
  • Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
  • De‑escalate challenging situations using calm, consistent approaches
  • Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders
  • Monitor behaviour incidents and contribute to behaviour tracking and reporting
  • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
  • Support the implementation of individual behaviour plans where required
  • Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times

Ideal Behaviour Support Officer

  • Experience working in a behaviour support, pastoral, or inclusion role
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies
  • Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team
  • Organised and able to maintain accurate records
