A high-performing Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the London Borough of Lewisham is seeking an inspiring and resilient Primary Phase Class Teacher to work with Year 7 and Year 8 intervention students. The provision offers a unique approach to education, built on vocational and integrated learning models, and students consistently achieve beyond expectations across all Key Stages.
The Role
The appointed teacher will:
- Deliver a KS2-style curriculum, including core subjects such as English, Maths and Science, tailored to the needs of younger learners working in a secondary setting.
- Plan and teach engaging lessons that support re‑engagement, confidence and accelerated progress.
- Differentiate learning effectively and work collaboratively with support staff to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with SEND and EAL.
- Assess, monitor, record and report on pupil progress, setting clear, achievable targets.
- Promote positive behaviour, mutual respect and a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
- Build constructive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Contribute to whole‑school initiatives, curriculum development and safeguarding practice.
- Engage fully in professional development and reflective practice.

Person Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold QTS and have successful experience teaching Key Stage 2, with a preference for experience in Years 5 and 6.
- Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and strong communication skills.
- Have a thorough understanding of safeguarding, inclusive practice and the needs of vulnerable learners.
- Be able to motivate, inspire and support students to exceed expectations.
- Use assessment, data and IT effectively to raise standards.
Experience in alternative or specialist settings is advantageous but not essential.
