Overview

The Trustees are recruiting for the positions of SEN Teaching Assistant Level 1, fixed and permanent, at New Bridge School, Roman Road Campus.

Location: New Bridge School, Roman Road, Hollinwood, Oldham.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a TA1 you will be assigned to a form group in either the main body or the Autism Base, supporting the class teacher and pupils throughout the school. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs in a special needs setting.
  • Assisting with teaching and learning, monitoring student progress, and recording progress.
  • Providing interventions and modelling appropriate social behaviour.
  • Working with classroom teachers to differentiate interventions in relation to the curriculum.
  • Supporting multi-disciplinary teams and acting independently when necessary.
  • Participating in professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience working with young people of primary/secondary age presenting with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably in education.
  • Nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Physical and emotional resilience to support pupils with complex needs.
  • Ability to record and report student progress.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: NJC scale point 3 – £24,796 per annum (full time). Actual salary: £19,044 per annum pro rata. SEN allowance £1,539 per annum. Base Allowance (Autism Base only) £1,491 per annum.

Work Conditions

Contract type: Fixed term and permanent positions available. Hours: 32 hours per week / term time only (195 days). Location: Initially at Roman Road campus, with possibility to work at other sites within the New Bridge Group.
