Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 59 bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs. We are currently recruiting for a Driver to facilitate the patient transport service needs of the hospital.
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00hrs – 16:00hrs. Flexibility required – start and finish times may vary, and some weekends and Bank Holidays may be needed.
Salary: £14.50 per hour rising to £14.80 after 3 months.
Responsibilities
- Provide transport for escort visits for both service users and staff.
- Ensure vehicles are refueled and checked before and after use, keeping them clean inside and out, and reporting any faults or damage.
- Drive an 8 or 9 seat minibus, both manual and automatic, in different environments including cities and motorways, daytime and evenings.
- Comply with health & safety policies and Cygnet protocols.
Qualifications
- Confident, outgoing personality.
- Valid full UK driving licence with no more than 3 points, held for at least 2 years.
- Health & safety experience & knowledge.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting (desirable).
- Excellent organisation skills, able to plan and keep to a timed schedule.
- Physically fit for getting in and out of vehicles and loading and unloading.
- Willing to work unsupervised.
- Good customer service skills and excellent communication skills both verbal and written, able to liaise with patients, staff and third parties.
