Fitness Trainer

Salary: Grade E point 5‑6, £25,583 – £25,989 (actual pay)

Working pattern: 37 hours per week (permanent, whole time), worked on a shift rota basis.

Closing date: Friday 29th May 2026, 12 noon.

Start date: ASAP.

Northfield School is a large 11‑16 school and specialist sports college. Following an inspection in February 2023, Ofsted judged the school to be good in all areas. Northfield Sportsdrome is a busy and vibrant school and community sports facility.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fitness inductions and provide professional instruction on the safe and effective use of exercise equipment in the fitness suite and exercise areas throughout the Sportsdrome.
• Prepare fitness programmes for gym members and update programmes following fitness reviews.
• Work a shift rota to include daytime, evenings, and weekend working.
• Apply knowledge of exercise science to deliver safe and effective training sessions.

Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent team‑working, organisational, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising workload efficiently and using initiative.
• Confident IT user with a high level of proficiency and experience in a range of IT systems.
• Friendly, approachable, enthusiastic, energetic, and self‑motivated to meet the varying demands of a school and community use facility.
• Current or recent experience of teaching a variety of exercise classes and practical gym experience.
