Overview
Key Stage Teacher Supply are seeking a patient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school in Skelmersdale, working with two pupils who require additional support to access learning within a Year 6 class. This is a long‑term position, supporting pupils within a mainstream classroom environment. The role will involve working on a 1:2 basis, supporting pupils with ASD and Autism in Upper KS2. The school has a strong focus on inclusive practice and pupil support, with a collaborative staff team and clear support structures in place, making it an excellent opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience in a mainstream setting.
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday – PM 12 pm to 3 :15 pm
- Tuesday, Thursday – Full days 8 :30 am to 3 :15 pm

Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEND TA
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND in a mainstream school setting
- Understanding of needs such as ASD or ADHD
- Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils
- Strong communication and behaviour‑management skills
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well‑being
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
- Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Adapt learning activities to support different learning styles
- Support the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons
- Help manage behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies
- Encourage engagement, independence and confidence
- Work closely with the SENCO, teacher and wider support staff
