Maths Teacher – SEMH & Trauma-Informed Provision
Dorking, Surrey — Pay: £169–£230 per day — Type: Temporary (possible permanent) — Hours: Full-time — Start Date: ASAP
The Role
- Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons to KS2, KS3 or lower KS4 students.
- Teach students on a 1:1, 2:1 or small group basis.
- Differentiating lessons to meet a range of SEND and SEMH needs.
- Support students’ emotional regulation and engagement with learning.
- Use positive behaviour management and restorative approaches.
- Assess, record and report on student progress.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, therapists and families.
- Maintain strong safeguarding practices and professional boundaries.
The ideal candidate will be calm, resilient, and adaptable, capable of building positive relationships while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working within SEND, SEMH or alternative provision settings.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and trauma‑informed practice.
- Experience supporting or teaching students with challenging behaviour.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to differentiate Maths lessons for students with additional needs.
- QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching experience (desirable).
- Team Teach training or positive behaviour support experience (advantageous).
- Preferably a DBS on the Update Service to facilitate a quicker start date.
