Your Role as a Materials Testing Technician
- Field-based, covering a region with UK travel as needed.
- Responsible for service, maintenance, and repair of testing equipment and instrumentation; examples include impact, tensile, universal, fatigue, stress, or torsion testing.
- Work within manufacturing sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and medical.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained to UKAS standards.
- Compile detailed reports as appropriate.
- The role requires nights away from home, averaging 1-2 nights per week.
Ideal Background for the Materials Testing Technician
- Knowledge of destructive materials testing equipment essential, especially impact, tensile, universal, fatigue, stress, or torsion testing.
- Approachable, honest, and team‑player attitude.
- Understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 beneficial.
- Strong IT and communication skills.
- Full valid UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
