About the Role
ZOO Digital are currently seeking an English Editor to join our English department based in Sheffield, on a fixed term contract basis. The English team creates, re‑formats, and edits post‑production scripts for distribution on platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, iTunes, Amazon, Google and Hulu. As an English Editor – Scripts, you will create, re‑format, and edit a variety of post‑production scripts, such as dialogue lists and broadcast scripts, as well as dubbing templates for translation into other languages. Using ZOO’s internal software, you’ll ensure every project meets rigorous standards of accuracy, consistency, and style across all media formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating, reformatting, and editing video content scripts for a wide range of platforms.
- Ensuring flawless English grammar and style for high‑quality translations.
- Identifying and correcting errors in spelling, punctuation, syntax and formatting, and ensuring consistency with client style guides.
- Producing clear, accurate, and engaging content through strong writing and editing skills.
- Managing tight deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Communicating effectively with ZOO project coordinators.
- Collaborating inside a supportive, team‑focused environment to achieve shared goals.
- Maintaining exceptional attention to detail and ensuring all outputs meet ZOO’s high standards and client‑specific requirements.
Requirements
- Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional listening skills.
- Strong research skills – ability to verify facts, names and terminology across a wide range of topics.
- Ability to perform well under pressure, meeting tight deadlines with accuracy and minimal supervision.
- Proactive, flexible approach, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a supportive team.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex or technical topics clearly and accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn and adapt to new software and tools.
Previous experience in subtitling, dubbing, audio description or editorial work would be an advantage, but is not essential – full training will be provided.
