Overview

We are seeking a calm, compassionate, and highly committed Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil at a welcoming, inclusive, and forward‑thinking primary school in Bristol. With supportive staff and excellent facilities, this school offers an inspiring environment in which to make a real impact.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistent, individualized support that empowers the pupil to thrive in a nurturing, secure, and engaging learning environment.
  • Provide targeted one‑to‑one support tailored to the pupil’s individual learning, social, and emotional needs.
  • Build a trusting, positive, and motivational relationship to help the pupil develop confidence and make meaningful progress.
  • Collaborate proactively with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement effective behaviour support and personalized learning strategies.
  • Ensure the pupil always feels heard, understood, respected, and valued.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment where all learners can succeed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or in a similar support role.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to behaviour, well‑being, and learning.
  • A strong commitment to delivering consistent, high‑quality, child‑centered support.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and families.
  • Right to work in the UK – no sponsorship or Skilled Worker visas offered.
  • Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).
  • Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one.
  • Willingness to process a new Enhanced DBS on the Update Service if not already obtained, with a refundable cost of £62.70 after 20 days of work.

Additional Information

  • Full‑time availability preferred but not essential.
  • Pay: Pay is a PAYE payroll and includes holiday pay; details provided upon request.
  • Vetting: Candidates will undergo reference checks, TRA checks, DBS checks and an interview.
