Workshop Technician

  • Hands‑on production of bespoke products to defined designs, working closely with customers to ensure delivery to the right standard and within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain workshop excellence: follow risk assessments, carry out daily health and safety checks, keep the environment clean and organised, and run the workshop safely and efficiently.
  • Support machine upkeep through planned maintenance, keep tools and materials in good order, and ensure stock levels are where they need to be.
  • Contribute ideas to the development of new products, apply existing skills, build new ones, and support the wider team wherever needed.
  • Supervise apprentices, help them grow and develop, provide feedback, and improve how the team works.
  • Communicate clearly and work well alongside others, staying current with professional development and taking a proactive, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Carpentry and Joinery, Metalwork, Electronics disciplines, or equivalent demonstrable hands‑on experience.
  • Solid understanding of workshop health and safety and the safe use of machinery.
  • Confident working from engineering drawings, standards and specifications, with a precise and methodical approach.
  • Comfortable operating workshop equipment safely and responsibly, valuing an organised environment where safety and quality go hand in hand.
  • Experience in a similar role or across a range of machining and fitting activities is an advantage.
  • Additional training such as manual handling, forklift operation, first aid, or fire warden responsibilities is advantageous.
