About the Role

To deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching to pupils in KS1 or KS2

To uphold and promote the Catholic ethos and values of St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, being a Catholic is not required

To contribute to a collaborative, supportive team culture

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons in line with the National Curriculum and school policies
  • Provide a stimulating, supportive and safe learning environment for all pupils, including those with SEND
  • Assess, record and report on pupils’ progress, attainment and development
  • Take on subject leadership responsibilities, as agreed with SLT
  • Maintain strong behaviour management in line with the school’s policies
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, families and the wider community
  • Work closely with colleagues to plan and deliver an enriching curriculum
  • Participate in professional development (CPD) opportunities

What You Need to Succeed

Qualifications and Training

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • ECTs welcome

Experience

  • Experience of teaching in a primary school setting (KS1 or KS2)
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND
  • Experience in subject leadership (desirable, or willingness to develop)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong subject knowledge across the primary curriculum
  • Good understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Knowledge of SEND and strategies to support all learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Effective communication and organisational skills

Personal Qualities

  • Commitment to upholding the Catholic ethos of the school, being a Catholic is not required
  • Team player with a collaborative approach
  • High expectations for all pupils
  • Reflective and committed to professional growth
  • Empathy, resilience and a positive attitude
