Are you looking to build a long‑term career as a Teaching Assistant in a supportive specialist school?

We are recruiting Teaching Assistants (Level 3 qualified or unqualified) to join a well‑established school supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN / SEND). This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in education, care, or support work, as well as Psychology graduates looking to gain hands‑on experience.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide general classroom support, working closely with teachers and subject leads to support pupils across mainly secondary‑aged classes.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom across a range of subjects
  • Providing occasional 1:1 support based on individual needs
  • Assisting students with SEN / SEND, including additional learning and behavioural needs
  • Supporting engagement, confidence, and academic progress
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff

You may also have the opportunity to support students within subject areas of interest such as maths, English, art, music, or cookery. Class sizes are small, typically 5–6 pupils, allowing for a more personalised and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced in working with children or young people with SEN / SEND, or have a strong understanding of additional needs
  • A graduate in Psychology or a related field, or have experience in care or support work
  • Patient, proactive, and adaptable
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a team
  • Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential
  • Structured training with a mix of classroom experience and dedicated study time
  • Clear pathway for career development within education
  • Training to add understanding and skills to yourself

Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary (dependent on qualifications)
  • Small class sizes and supportive learning environment
  • Opportunity to specialise in subject areas of interest
  • Long‑term career progression and funded training
  • Supportive and experienced staff team
