Location: Sheffield

Salary: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

Are you an energetic and driven PE Teacher who believes in the power of sport and physical activity to transform young lives?

GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated PE Teachers to work in schools across Sheffield.

As a PE Teacher, you will play a central role in promoting physical health, teamwork, and personal resilience among students. From the sports hall to the playing field, you will deliver dynamic lessons that challenge pupils physically and support their broader development — helping them build habits and attitudes that last a lifetime.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons across a range of sports and physical activities in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential to support KS5 where applicable
  • Promote active participation, sportsmanship, and a healthy, positive attitude towards physical activity
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear and encouraging feedback
  • Differentiate lessons to engage students of all abilities and fitness levels
  • Organise and lead extra‑curricular sports activities, clubs, and competitive fixtures where appropriate
  • Maintain high standards of pupil behaviour and safety during all practical sessions
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider PE department

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching PE in a secondary school setting is desirable
  • Broad knowledge of a range of sports and physical activities
  • Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to motivate and inspire students
  • Strong organisational skills with a proactive, safety‑conscious approach
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new application)
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Hold an up‑to‑date CV with two references from the last 2 years
