Yourrole as a Healthcare Assistant

Main duties of the job
Providing compassionate care and support for patients daily needs, including palliative and end-of-life care
Good communication and interpersonal skills to work with patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals
Ability to follow care plans, policies, and procedures, including infection control and safety guidelines
Basic clinical skills (e.g. medication administration, monitoring) within training and competence
Teamwork and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and volunteers
Accurate record-keeping and documentation of care provided
Understanding of patient dignity, hygiene, and safeguarding, including care after death
Manual handling and safe use of equipment to support patient independence
What Were Looking For:
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Assistant who is not only clinically and operationally skilled but also deeply compassionate, someone who sees hospice care as a vocation, not just a role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence and emotional resilience in handling complex or sensitive situations.
- Experience delivering individualised care in dynamic, needs-led environments such as ward or complex community settings.
- Evidence of formal training or continued professional development in care, particularly palliative care.
- A passion for palliative, hospice, or specialist ward care
- Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic approach to complex care situations
