Job Description:

Role Overview

Family Support Workers provide one‑to‑one holistic information, advice and support to families across Highland via phone, email and online services. They help families improve their lives by building confidence, empowering them to recognise their personal expertise and value, implementing practical support strategies, accessing services, knowing their rights and ensuring their voices are heard.

Key Responsibilities

Each Family Support Worker will have a specific locality remit which includes:

  • Face‑to‑face support activities in collaboration with local organisations and communities.
  • Building relationships with local partners and communities to improve reach and impact, and to identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration to effectively meet local needs within the available resources.

As part of a small charity team, work is integral to our success and effective functioning. Team members may share responsibility for a range of tasks such as communications, fundraising, service strategy and monitoring – roles that larger organisations would typically have dedicated posts for.

Expected Outcomes

Family Support Workers are working towards the following outcomes for families:

  • Reduced isolation – building relationships with others.
  • Improved resilience – enabling coping mechanisms at a time when usual strategies and services may not be available.
  • Improved access to information, support and advice.
  • Improved recognition of own strengths.
  • Improved mental health and well‑being.
  • Increased confidence to make positive changes.
