Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Contract type: PermanentHours of work: 36 hours per week, Term time only + 1 Day Staff Training (38.2 weeks)Salary information: Scale 6, £30,283 – £31,191 per annum (dependent upon experience)Start date: ASAP

Are you (or could you be) a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated Access & Inclusion team and support students in achieving their full potential.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the Access & Inclusion Faculty to support students with a range of learning needs, including those working below age-related expectations and those with SEND.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently working as a HLTA or an experienced teaching assistant looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in supporting high-quality learning across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning activities and interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Support teachers in planning and delivering effective learning opportunities.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and resilience in their learning.
  • Contribute to the support and progress of students with additional needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, HLTAs and Teaching Assistants within the Access & Inclusion team.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting learning in a secondary school or similar setting.
  • Is passionate about helping young people succeed.
  • Has strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Is proactive, adaptable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Will support the values and ethos of a Church of England school.
