Tewkesbury (initially based in Bishops Cleeve Cheltenham) | Shift-based role
Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for an Electronic Repair Technician to join our Operations team where you’ll support us in delivering high‑quality maintenance, repair and overhaul services for critical aerospace components. This role will be based at our Tewkesbury site, with initial onboarding and training taking place in Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham.

The Role
As an Electronic Repair Technician, you’ll play a key role in diagnosing, repairing and returning complex electronic products to service, ensuring they meet exacting aerospace quality and safety standards. Working within a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environment, you’ll carry out detailed inspection, fault finding and repair activities at component level, using a range of diagnostic tools, technical drawings and engineering specifications.
You’ll be responsible for assembling, testing and inspecting products, maintaining accurate records within business systems, and ensuring full traceability throughout the repair process. Working closely with engineering, quality and operational teams, you’ll support investigations, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands‑on, technically demanding role within a fast‑paced production environment, where attention to detail, problem solving and quality are critical. The role requires flexibility, including working across shift patterns (early, late and night shifts) to support operational requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring experience working at electronic component level within a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally within aerospace or another regulated industry. You’ll be confident interpreting circuit diagrams, engineering drawings and technical documentation, with a strong understanding of electronic principles and fault‑finding techniques.
You’ll have a hands‑on approach, with good dexterity and attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple products while meeting tight deadlines. Experience using test equipment, ERP systems and recording root cause analysis and corrective actions will be important.
A recognised qualification in electronic engineering (HNC level or equivalent) or time‑served experience is expected. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams are essential, along with a proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
